Board Differences Increase in 2021. Some Ask What It Takes Long.

Proponents of her case have been working to make the actual transcript of this statement available online.

“When you look around, everyone wants to be a senior or retired senior who has done exactly what their company has been trying to do for the past decade,” said Jennifer Tejada, CEO of PagerDuty, a software company, and a member of the company. boards of Estée Lauder and UiPath, a software company. “It’s a very narrow lens to look at.”

Under his leadership, the eight-member PagerDuty team consists of two white directors. He emphasized that the letter was not a signal of a formal antitrust inquiry into the allegations. Its directors, he said, include the director of architecture at the University of Michigan, Alec D. Gallimore, who is Black; Bonita Stewart, a board member at Gradient Ventures, Google Finance, and the first Black woman to be vice president at Google; and Rathi Murthy, an Indian and technical senior at the Expedia Group.

In order to ensure that there are enough board members from different areas, companies need to do a better job of promoting more people from non-minority groups to senior positions, some officials said. “All we have to do is find a lot of Latinx people in leadership positions, and that starts deep in the way you write and teach,” said Ms. Gomez.

“The pressure part is being paid to these companies,” said Daniel Ortner, a lawyer for the Pacific Legal Foundation. The foundation represents the National Center for Public Policy Research, a group that claims to promote free market policies, in a case against law that requires leaders from non-representative groups.
